Blog Update: Back in Black

In which I detail upcoming changes to Filmquisition.

As most of you have probably noticed, my posting lately has been a bit spotty: mostly coming down to Becky's Lady's Choice articles in these last few weeks.  This mostly comes down to a matter of unfortunate timing: a storm taking out our power and internet, having to deal with the aftermath of said storm, and then leaving for the West Coast for two weeks on vacation.  Chase that with a miscommunication to Becky about explaining my absence, and we arrive at the present.

I'm back now, however, and am ready to start posting daily content once again.  Due to the increasing desperation of my job search, however - fuelled by the depressing realization that I'm fast approaching my one-year anniversary of working at a minimum wage job - I doubt that I will be able to keep up with my previous pledge of 3 articles per week day.  I'm simply not making any money doing this and need to find a sound job to allow me to post well into the future.

As such, the new plan is to slightly scale back to 2 articles per week day.  Some days may be more (especially with Becky wanting to review whichever new movie I don't get around to reviewing for the week), but the goal is to stay at a minimum of two per day.

I'll additionally try to keep the each day's scheduled content the same, although sometimes a news article will necessarilly take the place of a review (most likely) or an editorial (less likely).  The hope is that when I do secure a not-depressing job, I'll be able to go back to the previously scheduled 3 articles per day.

I'm also thinking of doing something different with my Unreality Companion articles.  Going on a year of writing them, they've lost a lot of flavor with me.  Some days they come easily and naturally, while other times they feel incredibly forced.  I don't know yet what new form these articles will take (maybe just shifting some of the tragically passed-over ones from earlier in the week to this slot), but I will let you know when I've figured it out.

Blog Update: Brace Yourselves, ComicCon Coverage Is Coming

In which I detail upcoming changes to Filmquisition.

As many of you are probably already aware, ComicCon has come and gone this weekend, leaving a vast slew of announcements, trailers and just plain old news to catch up on.  Naturally, most of this will make it through this particular neck of the woods... eventually.

There's a considerable pile of news-worthy stories to touch base with, and I will do my best to get as much of it as I can up as quickly as possible.  There are trailers for Batman vs Superman, Suicide Squad and Deadpool, for one.  There are updates on the Minority Report, Limitless and Legends of Tomorrow.  There are even a few interesting (but mostly perplexing) tidbits on the nuts-and-bolts functionality of the DC Cinematic Universe.

Naturally this will all take time to get through, and that's with me trying to get through my already scheduled articles (both here and on Unreality).  My aim is to get through most (if not all) of it by the end of the week, but some spillover into next week might happen, pending real-life interference.

So strap in, Folks.  This week is going to be busy, wild and increasingly weird.  I hope you enjoy it.

Blog Update: Keeping Up with the Filmquisition

In which I detail upcoming changes to Filmquisition.

As many of you may have noticed, my current schedule is proving to be increasingly prohibitive to the publication schedule that I had set out to keep up with.  Some days I can only post a fraction of what I promised - if I post anything at all - and I'm in a constant frenzy to catch up whenever I get a space minute.  It's a losing option at best, and needs to be addressed.

Change needs to happen.  There's just no way around it.  I need to either adapt to my new schedule or fall hopelessly behind on everything.

Upon reviewing my options, I think that toning down the reviews is the best way to go.  They're the articles that easily take up the most time to hammer out - both in terms of writing and given that I actually have to watch something pertaining to it.  It's just not realistic to hammer out five movie reviews a week when I'm holding down 2 or more jobs on the side.

That doesn't mean that I'm stopping the reviews entirely, just that I'm slowing things down on that front.  I'll still publish a Weekend Review and Revisited article each week: something old and something new.  Unreality Companions are still floater articles that might sometimes turn into reviews.  While the other two - From the Vault and Date Night - can still pop up from time to time when my schedule allows for it, just not regularly.

Naturally, this will shift the focus of Filmquisition to editorializing and news, punctuated throughout the week by the occasional review.  Since Lady's Choice has gotten up and running, though, it's entirely possible that Filmquisition will continue to put out its full compliment of 15 articles each week, although the exact numbers are as much reliant on Becky as they are on myself.

With a bit less on my plate to worry about, this should keep me from falling behind on other articles that simply lost out to me struggling to keep up with my reviews.  I'm looking into other ways to make up for this deficit - ways that might not take up quite as much time as the review series - but that's a subject for another time.

Blog Update: Unreal Surge

In which I detail upcoming changes to Filmquisition.

So you may have noticed lately that I've been a bit negligent about Unreality Companion: my article series in which I augment my weekly article for Unrealitymag.com.  It's been due to a number of factors, most of which involve the website posting the articles I'm expanding upon late and my otherwise prohibitive schedule.  This ends today, though.

I have every intention of catching up with my unpublished Unreality Companions over the course of the next week or so.  I will try to post a new one every weekday from now until I've caught up with them all (with maybe this weekend being a bit spotty, owing to a wedding that I'll be attending out of town).

To put things into perspective, the last Unreality Companion that I did was back in May when I ranked Marvel's Phase 1.  Since then, I've neglected to write one for six Unreality articles: Marvel vs Fox, the Tragedy of Ultron, Ranking the Mad Max series, What I want out of the Spectacular Spider-Man, a retrospective on Blumhouse Productions and Christopher Lee's recent death.

So expect a lot of editorials to come out over the next week or so.  You can also expect me to start doubling up on certain article series that I am likewise behind on, as well as on some news items that I've neglected to report on, but those are of a lesser priority for me.  The big one is making up for lost time with my companion articles.

Blog Update: Lady's Choice

In which I detail upcoming changes to Filmquisition.

This latest change to the blog has been in the works for a while now, and is entirely Becky's brain-child.  Since she's out of school right now - and struggling to find things to occupy her time with - and since this blog is a bit singular in focus, she proposed a new article series: Lady's Choice.  Unlike the rest of the articles on Filmquisition, though, this one would come from a somewhat novel perspective: Becky's.

Becky's been no stranger to Filmquisition.  She's already offered her own divergent opinions on my articles (albeit using me as a conduit) for some time now.  That's the whole point of Counterpoint!  The only difference now is that she's taking a more direct approach: sharing her opinion in her own words, free from the limitations of my understanding.

The hope is to get between one or two of these up every week (depending on Becky's schedule and predilections).  One should always come in at the end of the week, with the additional possibility of another one coming in at the beginning of the following week.  The only input that I'll have to her articles is as a glorified spell-checker.

Unlike Counterpoint, however, these articles aren't going to be reactionary.  They are going to be completely independent of what I'm writing, focusing on whatever topic grinds her gears enough to write about.  This could be anything from movies to TV to gaming.  Some might be reviews while others are editorials.  The choice is hers.

Tangential to this, you might see me starting to write a few Counterpoints based on some of her Lady's Choice topics.  I certainly doubt that I'll do much agreeing with her, so it's pretty rife with editorial possibilities.

Blog Update: This Weird Week in Filmquisition

In which I detail upcoming changes to Filmquisition.

This is an exceptionally weird week for me.  My work schedule has increasingly changed due to the fact that I now qualify for lead shifts and my training for my third job is coming to a close.  This means two things as it pertains to this blog: this week will be a tad more irregular than I would care for, but I should soon be back to a more normal posting schedule.

Everything should be taken care of by the end of the week - including last week's Revisited that I neglected to post - but the dates that their posted might be a bit jumbled.  As of right now, I plan on posting two Revisiteds on Thursday (one from last week and one from this week) and two Unreality Companions on Friday (a review of Furious 7 and something for this week's article).  Everything else might be shifted around a bit, but should show up by Sunday at the latest.

I'll keep up with my normal posting schedule as much as possible, but some things will naturally have to be pushed back.  Starting next week, though, I should be back on track with my usual routine.  Absent that extra training and now getting few (but longer) shifts at my day job, I should have a lot more time for posting.

So I apologize for my infrequency this and last week, but know that it's coming to and end and everything's getting back on track.  Beyond that, have fun at Age of Ultron this weekend (I know I will) and expect my review to be posted on Monday.

Blog Update: Tomorrow's Weekend Review

In which I detail upcoming changes to Filmquisition.

My work schedule's weird.  It always has been.  Tomorrow I'm scheduled to go in well before we would normally open for an oddly short shift.  So while I'll be sent on my way well before noon, I have to get to bed uncommonly early (for me, at least) tonight.

Given that I've already fallen asleep once on the couch tonight, I'm thinking that today's Weekend Review will have to be put off until tomorrow.  Everything should get posted during the afternoon, however, so it shouldn't be an inordinately long delay.

So tomorrow you can look forward to The Weekend Review, AdapNation, From the Vault and a Trailer Park for one of the weirdly many new trailers that hit the internet over the weekend.  Sorry about the delay.

Blog Update: Upcoming Unreality Companion and Date Night

In which I detail upcoming changes to Filmquisition.

The purpose of this update is two (arguably three)-fold.  First off, I want to keep you in the loop about what's happening with last week's postponed Unreality article and its companion piece for this blog.  Secondly, I wanted to let you know what's going on with the Date Night that was supposed to go up yesterday.

As to the first point, I have just submitted last week's article for publication.  That hopefully means that it will go up later today, although that's no longer in my hands at this point.  Assuming that it does, I will share that as usual through the Filmquisition Twitter feed and other social media.

The Unreality Companion that will accompany it will go up on Friday.  Barring any unforeseen delays in this week's Unreality article, then, there will be two Unreality Companions on Friday instead of one.  This is in addition to The Weekend Forecast and any other articles that I might have planned for that day.

Due to extra work that I had to put in to Unreality this evening, I didn't quite get around to posting this week's Date Night.  This is simply getting pushed back by a day, so it should be up sometime later today, along with your normally scheduled Throwback Thursday and Revisited articles.  It's unfortunate, but shouldn't throw too large of a kink into things when all is said and done.

On that note, I'm considering a slight tweak to Throwback Thursday in the weeks to come, but haven't quite come to a decision on that front yet.  In the next couple of weeks, I might weigh in with a new development, but I'm doing nothing now but plugging away with it per usual and judging how well it goes.

So thanks once again for bearing with me and my occasionally erratic schedule.  If one delay a week is the worst that I can mange with my current publishing plans, I'll consider it well enough.  But, as always, the goal is to better keep to the schedule than I have been.

Blog Update: Unreal Delay

In which I detail upcoming changes to Filmquisition.

As part of my redoubled commitment to consistent content - and specifically to scheduled content across the week - I'm making it a point to inform you when certain articles will not be appearing when you've come to expect them.  I was hoping that this wouldn't happen the very first week that I tried it, but it is what it is.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, my weekly Unrealitymag.com article will not be up on the site this week.  Because of not having an article to riff off of, my Unreality Companion for tomorrow will be likewise delayed.  Hopefully both will be up by Monday, though (and if not, I'll let you know when they do go up).

The intention is to keep delays like this at an absolute minimum and keep articles coming in as they're regularly scheduled, but some things just can't be planned around.  I imagine that this will almost exclusively affect Unreality Companions, because of that website's occasional posting delays.

Rest assured, though, that when this happens, I'll throw one of these updates out to let you know what's going on with it and when it's likely to get back on schedule.  In the meantime, you do have your normally scheduled Friday content to look forward to - including the premiere article of The Weekend Forecast.

Blog Update: Firming Up a Content Schedule - Part 2

In which I detail upcoming changes to Filmquisition.

So last night I announced a pretty dramatic shakeup to the way that I publish articles on Filmquisition.  Rather than just posting what I have as soon as I have it, I'll divvy articles out on a more even and consistent basis: aiming for one review, one news item and one editorial every weekday.  Today I hope to go into more of the details surrounding this schedule shakeup: specifically when each article series will be posted during the week.

In keeping with my renewed efforts to consistent posting, I will aim to post specific articles on specific days of the week.  While I already kind of do this to some extent already - The Weekend Review on Mondays and Unreality Companion on Fridays - I want to take it to the next level: where things are posted because it's their scheduled time to be, not because I finally got around to writing it.

Most news items - mostly Extra, Extra! and Trailer Park - will be posted on an as-needed basis each week.  Other pieces - such as Oscar 101 and the Blog, Netflix and Home Video updates - and time-sensitive editorials like The Monthly Countdown and certain Counterpoints will receive priority when their time comes.  If I have to post an extra news article on a heavy news day (or, God forbid, replace a differently-themed piece), then so be it.

MONDAY:

The Weekend Review - The Weekend Review is still going to be the go-to review article on Monday.  Although it technically can cover non-movies, in keeping with the focus of Filmquisition, it will rarely stray from its usual aim.  Whenever possible, it will also be focused on new movies that came out to theaters that weekend, although it may occasionally lapse into any movie that I happened to see over the weekend.

The Weekend Report - Monday isn't the only day of the week that comes with a firmly scheduled news article anymore (which I'll get more into in a bit), but it is the first.  As always, the focus will be discussing the weekend's winners and losers at the box office and be sprinkled with a few of my thoughts on the matter.

Tuesday:

From the Vault - This seemed the best place to put my review of a randomly selected movie that I already own, since Revisited makes most sense later in the week (for reasons that I'll touch on shortly).  While potential reviews might sometimes be commandeered by other series (Revisited and Diamond in the Rough) immediately come to mind, there'll still be plenty of movies to choose from.

AdapNation - I don't want to spoil too much about this new series, so let's leave it at "I'm absolutely stoked about it" and "I don't see this going anywhere anytime soon."

Wednesday:

Date Night - Although some part of me still feels that Date Night should be on Friday, this is a perfectly good spot for it, since Unreality Companion seems to be a movie review half of the time.  It really doesn't matter when the article's posted, though, since these Netflix movies will still be just as random as when this blog started.

Trending - This is another new article that I've been meaning to get off of the ground for a while, but better things kept coming along to steal the spotlight.  This week is the one, however, and I'll hold off on a full introduction until then.

Thursday:

Revisited - What started out as a simple curiosity has proven to have some real staying power.  There always seems to be something relevant to revisit, whether Marvel movies before Age of Ultron, Bond movies before Spectre or Star Wars movies before The Force Awakens.  I'm also planning on opening this up to tv series (revisiting them one season at a time) and maybe even some video games (I'm specifically eyeing Majora's Mask after playing through its 3DS remake), but movies, in the end, will rule the day.

Throwback Thursday - I'm still committed to bringing over most of my Unreality articles to Filmquisition, and in the future republishing choice or relevant Filmquisition posts themselves.  Although it's mostly intended to be an editorial feature, it will invariably have its share of reviews republished before too long.

Friday:

Unreality Companion - This mainstay isn't going anywhere anytime soon (at least as long as I continue to publish articles through Unrealitymag.com).  It's the sometimes-editorial, sometimes-review that expands on whatever I wrote about from across the internet.

The Weekend Forecast - Since starting The Weekend Report, I've noticed how oddly tacked on its secondary purpose is.  The retrospect over the weekend's new movies worked out perfectly, but the preview into things to come never quite felt like it was its own thing.  Starting Monday, it will solely focus on the previous weekend's movies, and The Weekend Forecast will talk about the weekend's new releases: what looks good, what looks terrible and what to expect come Monday.

There are a few other new series that I plan on getting started in the next couple of weeks, but they will likely end up being intermittent ones: cropping up when there's something especially interesting to talk about or an article gap that needs to be plugged.  Also expect to see a few random editorials floating around just because (even though most of them should comfortably fit under one of the aforementioned series).

Blog Update: Firming Up a Content Schedule - Part 1

In which I detail upcoming changes to Filmquisition.

Despite what I personally think is an impressive quantity of articles posted to Filmquisition lately, I can't deny that there's been very little consistency with when and which articles appear on which days.  Although absent for a shockingly long time, Date Night has made its return to the blog, with From the Vault soon to follow (even if I kind-of, sort-of already did that already).  There's been an absurd amount of news to cover lately - between trailers, posters and other headlines - leaving me with less time to editorialize, speculate or elaborate than I generally would like.  And just when I start to get into a groove with my content, something like work or an inexplicable delay with my Unreality article publication will throw things out of whack,

I've given the matter some thought, and have decided to stick as closely as I'm able to a weekly publishing schedule for Filmquisition.  Understandably, there will be some times where I won't be able to keep up with it.  Between working three jobs and writing an additional online article every week, I'm honestly surprised that I've been able to keep as near to one as I already have, but there is obviously room to improve on my current so-called schedule.

I will aim to publish three articles every weekday: one news item, one review and one editorial.  If I publish anything at all on the weekends, it will generally be catch-up for any odds and ends that I didn't quite get to during the week (hopefully just news items during an especially headline-filled week).

Now obviously there will be slow news days, when nothing of particular interest or importance goes on in the world of entertainment.  Those days can be supplemented by additional reviews or editorials.  Other days might be overflowing with news-worthy items, which might forcibly take the place of a previously scheduled review or editorial.

I plan to guard myself from unexpected hangups (such as an unfavorable work schedule or tragically unavoidable plans) by writing as much as I can in advance.  I'm not going to even attempt a stockpile of content weeks or even months in advance, because news strikes in the moment and I prefer for my content to be as relevant to the latest entertainment happenings as possible.

I can, however, write a couple reviews or the latest Trailer Park on my day off and hold their publication for a day or two.  The key is to try to smooth out my content so that you can better predict what I will be posting on any given day.

As a general rule, Extra, Extra!, Trailer Park, The Weekend Report, the various updates (Blog, Netflix, Home Video) and (eventually) Oscar 101 will fill the news quota of any given day.  Likewise, Date Night, From the Vault, Diamond in the Rough, Revisited, Piece of the Puzzle (which shortly return with a more conservative scope) and The Weekend Review will fulfil the need for reviews.

The Monthly Countdown, Throwback Thursday and Counterpoints will be the go-to editorial series, although most editorials, by definition, won't fit into a prescribed mold of such a heading.  Unreality Companion and WTF will often shift in the role that they serve.  And, as always, new article series are coming that will generally fit into at least one of these categories.

Hopefully this will lead to not just articles of the same quality and frequency that I've been publishing them recently, but of far greater predictability.  It'll further reign in the type of articles I'm writing so that it's not so singularly dominating by any one article type (like it has been lately with news).

The plan now is to use this weekend to catch up on some news items that I didn't get to because of my end-of-week workload, finally finish Phase 1 Revisited: The Incredible Hulk and elaborate on the direction that I intend to take Filmquisition in the immediate future.  Starting Monday, expect to see a whole new approach to the way that I plan and publish articles for this blog.

Blog Update: @Filmquisition

In which I detail recent or upcoming changes to Filmquisition.

It looks like Filmquisition is moving on up in the world.  We've officially upgraded to multi-media: not just the blog, but now a Twitter feed as well.  So come join the Filmquisition on social media: @Filmquisition.

Those of you who know me personally already know that I was using my personal twitter feed to share blog posts with everybody.  Unfortunately, and especially with Oscar season, it became a little much when you consider most of the people that followed me there did so for what essentially amounted as an easier means of mass tweeting.  But now that the two are segregated from one another, a whole new world of possibilities has opened up for the future of Filmquisition.

@Filmquisition will first and foremost where I will post links to my blog posts as well as to my weekly Unreality articles.  I will also host some live-tweeting events in the future, which will be announced here in advance.  The Academy Awards, the Golden Globes and sometimes even movie screenings will get this treatment.  It also opens me up to post content that's maybe not quite meaty enough for a full blog post, but I can fill 140 characters on easily.

So please follow this blog on Twitter (@Filmquisition) to keep up with blog posts and film criticism on the go.  Stay tuned for more updates as I explore other avenues for delivering the best and most timely content to you.  And let me know in the comments section what you would like to get out of the Filmquisition twitter feed.

Blog Update: No One Expects the Filmquisition!

In which I detail changes to Just a Matter of CineMantics Filmquisition.

With a new year comes a new dedication to the cause: to the Filmquisition.  This is where I take the decidedly modern entertainments of film, television, video games and comic books and rake them them over the coals to see what charred bits of truth there are to be found.  It is as much a celebration as it is an indictment of the 20th and 21st centuries' most visible forms of diversion.

With this rededication to the cause is a redoubling on my part to timely, regular and substantive content.  New content will be posted when they're intended to be, not just when I get around to them.  Lapsed series - such as Date Night, From the Vault and even the (as of yet) one-of Diamond in the Rough - will come back with a vengeance and there are a few nascent series ideas that will invariably come to fruition within the next year.

Update: The Big Move

In which I share pending changes for Just a Matter of CineMantics.

As many of you know, I just got a job as a freelance writer at a local Jacksonville, Il newspaper called The Source - and yes, for those of you who are aware, it is, in fact, that Jacksonville - in a town that's about 30 miles West of Springfield.  And because changes in my personal life seem to correspond with equivalent changes in this blog, I thought that I would share what some of those changes are likely to be.

Funds being tight at the present, I will not be getting cable, instead mooching long-distance from my parents through the X-Finity Go ap.  Sadly, this means that I will have to drop reviewing theshows that are not available through the ap - some of which are still perplexingly availble On Demand.  These are the same shows that were absent this last week when I was away from home: Arrow, Flash and South Park.

Since I can still keep up with these when I go home (since they are On Demand), I'll probably end up ddoing a season review, rather than offering extremely late and erratic episode-by-episode reviews.  If anybody knows of a place online that I can find the latest episodes of these shows, I would be incredibly grateful if you can share that information in the comments section below.  I will still be able to keep up with Gotham, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and American Horror Story: Freakshow, but these episodes will come a day later than they used to (since their availability on the ap is staggered from their initial air date).  We'll have to wait to see if the ap will include Constantine, which premieres this week.

So while Piece of the Puzzle instalments will become less frequent, it's pretty safe to say that From the Vaults - and especially Date Nights - will become increasingly more so.  Since I am so conveniently close to Becky now, its only natural that we'll be able to do a lot more together, a large part of which will be watching movies.

Especially since my "busy days" have cleared up, I will also try to start doing daily blog posts - including the previously barren Saturday and Sunday.  This will help accomodate the increasing frequency of Date Nights and From the Vaults, but will also allow for new content possibilities that I have only been able to toy with in the old schedule, including more generally-themed articles.

So that's the way things look at the moment: The Weekend Review on Monday, Piece of the Puzzle on Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday (Gotham / Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. / American Horror Story: Freakshow), Unreality Companion on Friday and probably at least one installmnt of both Date Night and From the Vault on the weekends.  Hopefully I'll be able to keep up with this schedule as well as I was able to keep up with the previous schedule.

And So It Begins

The fall television season, that is.  Sure, a lot of new fall shows have already started - Hell, I've already started doing reviews for Gotham, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., South Park and Family Guy - but this week starts the Fall out in earnest.  While the last few weeks have featured no more than one show a night, yesterday had two (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and The Flash) and tonight has three (Arrow, American Horror Story: Freak Show and South Park).  In two weeks, Constantine will be added to that roster and in January, so will Agent Carter.  The time for taking things easy has finally come to an end.

Since my Unreality article on Friday is going to be a review of the Flash's premiere episode, even this week isn't as busy as it could have been.  Before the month is out, however, I will be faced with reviewing seven different shows over the course of the week, five of which fall on the same two consecutive days.  And with the possibility of a new job on the horizon, keeping up with it all looks like it'll be a pretty daunting prospect.

It is, however, a prospect that I feel confident in meeting.  While it may take me a few weeks to fully work out all of the kinks, I am steadfast in my aim to review all of these shows every week.  It may be that I'll have to stagger the days where I post my reviews - I know for a fact that I won't be able to fit in three reviews on Wednesday evenings - but I will work something out so that they continue to be the same high-quality, timely reviews that I've been meting out over these last three weeks.

So it's time to dig in my heels, because Arrow is coming.  And American Horror Story.  And South Park.  All three tonight.  The plan is to hammer out two reviews this evening - Arrow and Freakshow - and to take care of South Park tomorrow morning.  After tonight, we should have an idea about how much - or little - can be managed in just one night.

This Is Unreal

For those of you that have not heard, it's official: I am now a writer at Unrealitymag.com.  I will be taking over a weekly Friday column (starting this week) about basically whatever I can get the guy above me to sign off on.  Evidently this is what it feels like to be MovieBob.

Feels good.  Feels real good.

What I'm thinking is this: this blog will continue to focus on randomly-selected films (and potentially a few other odds and ends) and my Unreality columns will be selected with a bit more purpose behind their selection and intentionally kairotic (I know that my dad in particular will be happy with my debut column for Unreality).  Neither my blog entries nor my Unreality columns will cover the same films.  Each will be distinct from the other, with their own specific focus.

Round 2: Fight!

So, as you may or may not have noticed, it's been a while.  But, as they say, good things come to those who wait, and the end is nigh (of waiting, that is).  Starting next week, I am going to resume reviewing randomly-selected Netflix movies again (starting with the back-logged Funny Games, which was definitely an interesting experience).

I am also going to start a second series of reviews, in which I randomly select a film from my own movie collection (because, let's face it, as a teacher at the start of the school year, Becky will probably not be free to Netflix with me as often as either of us would like).  The plan is to buckle down and post 1-2 reviews a week: at least one from either series, but hopefully one from both.  Down the line, I'm thinking of starting an intermittent series where I review tv series one season at a time and am going to additionally get some non-review content up as well (we'll just have to see exactly how often, though).

The idea is that this whole place is going to explode with regular, weekly content for the foreseeable future.
